March Madness Fun for Your Band! 3 Engaging Resources to Review Music Theory & Encourage Practice

March Madness is here! While basketball fans gear up for the NCAA college basketball finals, why not bring a little of that competitive spirit into your band program? Here are three fun resources to get your students excited about music during March Madness!

1. Music Symbols Madness

This engaging activity helps students review music symbols while adding a fun, competitive twist.Students compete for points by correctly identifying music symbols such as treble and bass clefs, dynamic markings, and articulation symbols. Divide your class into teams and let them take turns answering questions or identifying symbols on digital quiz. You can also use this as an assessment with the included answer sheet. This activity reinforces important music literacy skills and gets everyone involved in the fun!

2. Rhythm Madness

For students who need extra practice with rhythm values and time signatures, this basketball-themed game is a slam dunk! The game begins with basic rhythms as simple as a quarter note and moves into time signature questions by the end to keep your students engaged.
