A child’s first beginning band concert is always extra special. It is the first time the students will be performing for an audience, and the first time their parents, family and friends will get to see them in a concert setting and hear the progress they have made since the beginning of the year.
The audience is eager to capture these special moments with pictures and video. While technology has greatly improved for zooming in, changing the lighting, etc. it can be difficult to get a clear picture or video while they are performing, especially depending on the set up of the performance space. This is where ‘The Best Photo Op Ever’ comes in!
At the end of our very first beginning band concert, students play an ‘encore’ performance of the final song. Before we start the encore we invite one member of each family to come down and take close up photo/videos of their child. This gives them a great opportunity to document their young musician’s debut concert. A mix of parents/grandparents and siblings stand on the edge and even in the middle of the rows to capture a priceless picture or video of this momentous occasion.
